Aeroplane fashion

There are a few times in life when many are tempted to throw fashion sense to the wind, but when there is still the need to be seen in public, and those of us committed to style of course advises against this line of thinking! Tracksuits and ugg boots are fine if you are at home and not execting to see anyone. Not even your parents.
One such situation where I see many a person succumb to their inner sloth is the aeroplane trip. When you’re intending to sit down for a while, it appears to be very tempting to don your most shapeless outfit judging by some of the ensembles I’ve seen recently but I defy the idea that jet travel has to be daggy. You wouldn’t wear a tracksuit to work even though you’re mostly sitting down for 8 – 10 hours, so you shouldn’t be considering the same on a plane! And unless you have the fortune to always travel first class, there is so little that's actually pleasant about a plane journey that I think looking good is the least we can do!
Comfort and fashion are not mutually exclusive, and it is totally possible to get onto a plane looking fabulous, and still looking fabulous at the other end. (Okay maybe not the hair and skin so much, but the outfit, yes.) For starters, the easiest thing to do is to layer up. It’s a fashionista’s travel favourite day to day, and plane temperatures are so temperamental it also makes perfect sense. If you cant stand sitting in jeans for extended periods, wearing something like a maxi dress layered with a cardigan in case it gets chilly, a cropped jacket, and even a scarf if you need it now that the weather is colder is clever as well as on trend. This type of outfit is also ideal for cross hemisphere travel when you’re starting out in freezing and landing in summer or vice versa.
Regardless of what you’re wearing, funky headwear can solve your post flight hair issues. If you’re travelling into cold weather pack a funky train-driver style cap, and if you’re headed to the sun, you can still get away with a girlie trucker hat if you’re sporting cropped or skinny jeans. If you’re not a hat person, firstly I suggest you start learning to be pronto! But for now, the easiest thing to do is invest in a headband that will stand the test of time, and use that to detract from limp locks or oily roots.
Hopefully most of the times we get on planes it’s for something relatively fun, or at least it’s a chance to be stylish in a place other than home. So start your journey exactly how you intend to continue and end it – as the stylish thing you know you are!
